Parental attitude, support, and involvement are important factors in a childs ability to successfully learn to play and enjoy music. Effort and interest in music count far more than talent. Current research confirms the study of music is one of the most effective tools to improve learning throughout a child's academic curriculum. Band III Course Description: This course is designed for students who have one or more years experience in a school band. Course content consists of continued development of woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument playing and music fundamentals through performance in ensembles. Students are required to participate at a more proficient level in designated rehearsals and performances. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Beginning Band, Band II and / or teacher approval.

Course content consists of continued development of woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument playing and music fundamentals. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Beginning Band and / or teacher approval.

Beginning Brass & Woodwind Course Description: These courses are designed for students who have no previous experience in a school band. Course content consists of basic woodwind or brass instrument playing and music fundamentals. Woodwinds may include: flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe and bassoon. Brass may include: trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone and tuba. Prerequisite: Director approval based on individual testing and instrument placement.

Beginning Percussion Course Description: These courses are designed for students who have no previous experience in a school band. Course content consists of basic percussion instrument playing and music fundamentals. Percussion instruments will include but are not limited to snare drum, timpani, and mallet keyboards. Prerequisite: Director approval based on individual testing and instrument placement.
